The fourth turner to introduce in our series in the lead-up to Ten Turners Turning is Andy Rounthwaite.

Born and raised in Yorkshire, Andy started woodturning for occupational therapy reasons having been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He subsequently gained NVQ3 in woodturning and in 2002 attained a City & Guilds 7307 teaching qualification. In 2004 Andy was accepted onto the Register of Professional Turners. He was a tutor for several years at John Boddy’s and has demonstrated throughout the UK at woodturning clubs and shows.

More recently Andy demonstrated for Axminster at the North of England Woodworking & Power Tool Show (Harrogate) which he thoroughly enjoyed. He says his most important skill is being able to teach, as teaching is his first love. Andy is currently building a new classroom to accommodate courses for more students.
