Introducing our new wax range; a carefully developed range of high quality, durable waxes designed to suit a variety of applications and materials. It started with our machine wax and now, using our in-house, expert knowledge, we’ve developed a range that’ll not only maintain your machines but also protect your hand tools, enhance and seal your woodwork projects and restore antique artefacts! With eight varieties in the range, including old favourites and new additions, we’re sure we have an Axminster Wax for you.

What’s in the wax range?

Let’s take a look at what waxes we have available.

Microcrystalline Wax – a.k.a. the most versatile wax you can own.

This unique formulation is versatile and very effective. Most commonly used in museums and historic houses; microcrystalline will not only preserve, protect and enhance your woodwork but can also be used for antique artefacts, such as coins, classic car parts, vintage paintwork and more. The wax has a much higher melting point compared to other waxes, which helps protect against fingerprints. This is particularly desirable for objects which receive frequent handling. When the wax is applied it forms a hard layer on the surface and once buffed it will enhance the patina which gives the desired gentle sheen or soft glow. Its pH neutral and acid-free qualities make it suitable for use on sensitive materials such as tortoiseshell and historic papers. Plus, the wax stays clear after application, which ensures there is no discolouration to your project.

Machine Wax – the classic formulation prevails!

Already a favourite of ours and a lot of our customers; machine wax will greatly reduce friction between timber and the surface of the machine table. Particularly effective on cast iron tables, the unique anti-friction formulation will give you greater control by lowering the effort required to push your workpiece through the machine. The wax also helps to protect your machine against corrosion.

Hand Tool Protection Wax

Specially formulated for hand tools, our protection wax helps prevent oxidation by forming a protective barrier on planes, chisels, saws and more. In addition, similarly to the machine wax, it will also enhance the tool’s performance by reducing the friction between your tool and the workpiece.

Wood Wax – available in clear paste or a variety of colours!

This carefully formulated blend of wood waxes has been developed to revive, restore and protect wood. Available in a clear paste or in a variety of colours which can be used to adjust the finished colour of previously dyed wood. The unique formulation contains UV protection and provides a long-lasting, durable finish. Use it on bare, sealed, dyed or previously polished wood.

To conclude…

We’ve designed and developed our new range of Axminster Waxes to suit a variety of applications and materials. Whether it’s maintaining your machine, protecting your hand tools, enhancing your woodwork or restoring your antique findings; whatever your need for a wax, we’ve got you covered.
