Wales is riding high at the moment, with the success of the football team at the Euros, and Cardiff Racing (affiliated to the Engineering Department at Cardiff University) hope to follow in their wake. The team have launched their new racing car just in time for the competition taking place at Silverstone later this month.

Axminster Tools & Machinery is one of the team's sponsors, having supplied a CNC milling machine on a long term loan basis which has helped the team make parts for the car. Fresh from their launch event, watch this fully rendered assembly video of Cardiff Racing's newest car, CR12.

The event at Silverstone will take place from 14-17 July. The Class 1 competition has entries from 200 universities from 30 countries as far afield as Australia, India, Pakistan and South Africa. Unsurprisingly, there are several teams entered from German universities, who are renowned for their precision engineering skills.
