Our third turner is Steve Heeley; Steve also took part in the first Ten Turners Turning event in 2014. He has worked for most of his working life with wood, initially working as a carpenter and joiner. All that time woodwork was his passion.
Steve started woodturning as a hobby after visiting the workshop of a professional turner. Steve’s workshop is near Cannock in the West Midlands; woodturning is now very much his full-time occupation, ranging from craft and production to demonstrations and one-to-one tuition.
In 2015, he demonstrated at the IWG Seminar in Dublin which Steve says was “An awesome experience, where the hospitality was out of this world”. This year in 2016, he is looking forward to touring clubs on the Scottish borders. For more information about Steve and his work, visit his website.
